Lincoln - Two members of Team Kaos proved they can do more than just race their bikes fast.

Ian Robertson and James Blake of Team Kaos joined Jamie Dodge to form a three-person team that beat out 47 other teams to win the inaugural version of The Link, an urban adventure race through Lincoln that was organized by the Nebraska Sports Council.

For their effort – which lasted five hours, two minutes and 40 seconds – Team Kaos took home the Platinum Link trophy, an award which is modeled after a bike chain. The second place team, Flatwater Mean, finished nearly four minutes behind in 5:06:34. A coed team, Little Debbie & The Snack Cakes, finished third in 5:10:05. Raymond, Neb. — Jarred Berger dropped his two breakaway companions and Marco Vasquez won the field sprint Saturday as Team Kaos earned first and third place finishes in the Cat. I-II-III division of the penultimate edition of the Highgear/TREK of Omaha Road Training Series.

Berger’s victory vaulted him into a tie for second place in the overall series, one point behind teammate Tim Farnham, with just one race remaining.

Berger was the most active racer in the field, making every break of the day. With time winding down in the 60-minute event at Lieber's Point at Branched Oak State Recreation Area, Berger made his final escape from Lincoln Plating-Lemond teammates Christian Davenport and Jon Randell.

Randell held off the charging field to finish alone in second. Davenport fell back and was absorbed as Vasquez won the field sprint.

Team Kaos was well-represented in several of the categories Saturday, with James Blake, Zac Piatt, Theresa and Ted Blume and Rich Pearson. Piatt finished third in the Cat. III-IV race and was second in the Cat. IV-V race.
