Omaha - Team Kaos helped children learn how to ride their bicycle safely during the Omaha Police Department's Southeast Precinct Bike Rodeo and Open House Sunday, June 11.
In addition to helping youngsters learn how to use proper hand signals and improve their riding skills, Team Kaos members performed free bike inspections. One of the team's sponsors, UVEX, donated a dozen helmets to give away to children who needed one.
More than 500 children attended the four-hour event at the Southeast Precinct at 25th and Deer Park Blvd. In addition to the bike rodeo, face painting and animals from the Nebraska Humane Society were also part of the event.

Omaha – Getting Team Kaos to admit last week’s Monumental Memorial Stage Race amounted to nothing short of a monumental disappointment might be a little tough.
But ask riders like Tim Farnham and Jarred Berger about Team Kaos’ success at this weekend’s Dave Babcook Memorial Stage Race and they literally gush about how dominating a performance the team turned in over the two-day event.
Team Kaos captured the top two places overall, won every stage, placed four of its riders in the top 10 of the Pro-I-II-III division and took home six of 11 state criterium titles.
Farnham earned the overall crown on the strength of his victory in Saturday’s 66-mile road race while Berger successfully defended his Pro-I-II state criterium championship and finished second overall. A third teammate, Mark Brackenbury, won the Category III title in the same race – one that saw only 10 finishers of more than 40 starters.
Team Kaos also got state criterium championships from Morgan Chaffin (women), Marie Brackenbury (junior women 10-13), Ian Danielson (junior men) and Gary Schmidt (Masters 60+).

Elkhorn – Tim Farnham of Team Kaos won Saturday morning’s opening stage road race to take a 57-second lead into the final day of competition at the Dave Babcook Memorial Stage Race.
Farnham, an Elkhorn native and University of Nebraska-Lincoln student, outsprinted Terry Beenken of Mankato, Minn., at the end of the 66-mile race near the Mt. Michael Benedictine High School campus.
Farnham then added to his lead in the afternoon time trial by finishing seventh in the six-mile individual race. His teammate, Jarred Berger, won the time trial to move from fifth to fourth overall. Clark Priebe of Team Mack Racing in Springfield, Ill., is third.
Farnham needs only to safely finish today’s criterium to earn the overall win at the two-day, three-stage race. Competition begins at 8:15 a.m. and continues through 4 p.m. on a half-mile, triangle-shaped course near 17th and Howard. Today’s races double as the Nebraska State Criterium Championships.

Beatrice, Neb. - The frustration of a less-than-stellar day of racing on Sunday put Team Kaos on the offensive during Monday's final stage criterium.
All five Kaos racers - at one time or another - were off the front during the 75-minute race that culminated the inaugural Monumental Memorial Cycling Weekend in Beatrice. The strategy made for an extremely high pace that had hopes of delivering a Team Kaos rider to a stage win.
Unfortunately, it was another flat tire that took the wind out of the sails of one of the team's best sprinters, Chris Spence. With a little more than a lap remaining, Spence's front tire blew, putting him out of contention.
"And I was feeling great. I know I would have been right up there for the sprint," a dejected Spence said afterwards.
Instead, it was another rider from a Nebraska-based team, Lincoln Plating-Lemond's Jon Randell, who came through the finish line first, with enough of a cushion to sit up and zip up his jersey.

Beatrice, Neb. - Team Kaos' Morgan Chaffin came within two inches of picking up her first road race victory of the season Monday at the final stage of the Monumental Memorial Cycling Weekend in Beatrice.
With fewer than five laps remaining, Chaffin attacked the field in what had already been an aggressive race. Only Linda Sone of Silver Cycling/Hollywood Racing followed, and the pair quickly built a 10-second lead. The margin grew to 20 seconds with one laps remaining, as Sone was motivated to erase an eight-second deficit on Team Giant/Black Hills Domestiques’ Betsy Cordes and steal the overall victory.
