LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Team Kaos/Nebraska Medical Center rider Rich Pearson raced in the USA Cycling Masters Nationals earlier this week. Pearson was 14th in the 38-kilometer individual time trial and 28th in the road race.
Monday's time trial featured gentle rollers, and a cold rain fell just before Pearson's 10:02 start time. Though he finished a little more than five minutes behind the winner, Pearson set a new personal best with a 25 mph average.
The Tuesday road race was in Louisville's Cherokee Park and featured a tight, technical course. Pearson got separated from the main group when a bottleneck on the course put a few riders onto the grass. The pace was high in the lead group, which helped keep Pearson and his group from bridging. Pearson was third in the group sprint.
