YUTAN, Neb. -- John Vondracek claimed his second Masters 45-plus state championship in two weeks as Team Kaos/Alegent Health took a handful of podium spots at the Nebraska State Time Trial on Saturday.

Vondracek, who won the Cat. 1/2 Masters 45-plus criterium on June 7, finished the 23.4-mile course in 54 minutes, 53 seconds. Teammate Justin Maresh took the Cat. 3 state title with a ride of 51:52, good for third overall as well. Bryan Redemske finished 16th in 57:37.

In the Cat. 4 race, Ashton Lambie continued his strong rookie season with a runner-up finish in 54:41. Rich Pearson was fifth in 55:49, which also gave him the Cat. 4 Masters 55-plus victory. Brandon Fenster was close behind in sixth at 56:24. Mike Miles was 12th, Joe Owens was 17th and Lou Andersen was 18th.

Pearson wins in Kansas

Rich Pearson won the 55-plus category at the Kansas State Age Group Road Race on Sunday in Olsburg, Kan.

Pearson made early the breakaway group, but couldn't latch on to Bruce Tanner's solo attack. Tanner rode away for the win, while Pearson came in with a group of masters 50-plus riders.

While the other three contested the sprint, Pearson sat up and enjoyed the age-group victory. Pearson finished fifth overall.
