LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Team Kaos/Alegent Health rider Ashton Lambie collected his fourth win of the season Saturday at the Cat. 4 Downtown Lawrence Criterium. The race was a part of the three-day inaugural Tour of Lawrence. The 19-year-old began the season with a crash in his first race and hasn't finished outside of the top five since. Teammate Jeremy Eisenhauer worked at the front for Lambie and pulled back a number of breaks. Lambie surged away for the win halfway through the last lap, while Eisenhauer finished 12th in the pack sprint.
Lambie's weekend started on Friday night in the Eldridge Hotel Street Sprints competition. Contested on a slightly uphill 200-meter course, the competition seeded according to qualifying times. Lambie took the first seed in the Cat. 4 field and advanced to the final four, which included one pro, one Cat. 1/2 racer and one Cat. 3. To declare a winner, the four riders locked horns in a double-elimination shootout. Lambie lost both sprints and finished fourth. Eisenhauer raced in Sunday's KU Campus Circuit Race, which featured a steep climb midway through the lap. Eisenhauer was positioned well until he got stuck behind a crash. He was forced to climb the hill with no momentum, while the head of the race surged after hearing the crash. Eisenhauer was never able to reintegrate with the lead pack and finished 25th.
